A new International Standard, ISO18404, launched ahead of its anticipated December 1st 2015 schedule. This is an auditable standard that will look to stamp out bad practice within a lucrative and abused market.
The new standard will present an opportunity for individuals and organisations alike to achieve an internationally recognised certification within their desired field as a Six Sigma Green, Black or Master Black Belt, as well as their Lean equivalents.
Prior to the release of ISO18404, there were no internationally recognised certifications, and accreditation was offered by various and overlapping bodies, some of whom we have never heard of.
There are plans for a pilot accreditation program with certification bodies which will take place in 2016, they will decide on what evidence will be required and the verification process which will establish the aforementioned competencies.
Unlike previous standards, those practicing in their field will have regular, evidence-based, checks from either their senior or a certification body.
Services Limited are best placed to help you. Professor Tony Bendell, who chairs the BSI Technical Committee group MS6 and MD of Services Limited, was integrally involved with the creation of the new International Standard ISO18404.
